Sixth DUI Lands Elmhurst Man In Jail For Nine Years
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An Elmhurst man has been sentenced to nine-years in prison after pleading guilty to his sixth drunk driving violation.
Authorities say 51-year old Mike Stojanovich's blood alcohol level was nearly four-times the legal limit.
DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin says Stojanovich deserved the stiff sentence after repeatedly "thumbing his nose at society" by getting behind the wheel while drunk.
On Dec. 2, 2010, Stojanovich caused a rear-end collision at St. Charles Road and Sturges Parkway in Elmhurst. After the crash, he fled on foot, but was apprehended by police a short time later. His blood-alcohol content shortly after the crash was .30.
