Elmhurst Police Respond To Online Boston Marathon Bombing Threat
ELMHURST, Ill. (STMW) -- Police in west suburban Elmhurst have determined that there is no threat to the city's St. Patrick's Day parade after an anonymous user posted a comment on a local news website referencing the Boston Marathon bombing.
"The police department takes all comments of this nature very serious and investigated its credibility," police officials said in a release Saturday, the same day as the parade. "It has been determined that there is no threat to the St. Patrick's Day parade from this commenter."
The parade is scheduled for noon Saturday, March 8.
The comment, which has been removed, was posted on a March 5 article on Elmhurst Patch about the parade, said Erin Van De Walle, deputy clerk for the city of Elmhurst.
It was not immediately known what the comment actually said.
