Elgin Police Seek Driver In Hit-And-Run Who Seriously Injured Pedestrian
ELGIN (STMW) -- Police in northwest suburban Elgin are searching for a motorist who drove off after crashing into a pedestrian Sunday evening.
The 33-year-old Elgin man was hit by the pickup truck at 6:53 p.m., while walking with his family across National Street at a bike path crosswalk near the Fox River Bridge, a release from Elgin police said.
He suffered "significant injuries" and was taken Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, police said. The victim was later transferred to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove because of his injuries.
The pickup truck was traveling westbound on National Street when it hit him, police said. It is described as a burgundy or dark-colored Dodge Dakota, with the word "Dodge" written across its tailgate.
