Elgin Police Find Man Dead From Gunshot Wound Near Elementary School
(CBS) -- Elgin police say a man was found dead near an elementary school Sunday morning, reports WBBM's Mariam Sobh.
Police received a call that someone was in the street near an elementary school in the 1100 block of Sherwood Avenue.
Officers arrived on the scene to conduct a well-being check.

"When they arrived and they observed a male in the street with what appeared to be an apparent gunshot to the head," said Dan O'Shea with the Elgin Police Department. "He was deceased at the scene."
O'Shea says an investigation is underway with an autopsy scheduled for Monday.
