Elgin Man Gets 12 Years For Molesting Two Minors
ST. CHARLES (CBS) -- An Elgin man was sentenced to 12 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to having sexual contact with two minors.
Luis A. Gonzalez, 56, of the 200 block of Summit Street in Elgin and formerly of the 3000 block of West Belmont in Chicago, agreed to plead guilty to one count of felony criminal sexual assault and felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse in exchange for a sentence of 12 years in prison, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
Between June 2005 and March 2010, Gonzalez had sexual contact with two victims younger than 18 at the time, the release said.
Gonzalez knew the victims, according to the state's attorney's office.
The sentence is nine years for the criminal sexual assault conviction and three years for the aggravated criminal sexual abuse conviction.
The sentences are to be served consecutively.
Based on Illinois law, Gonzalez must serve at least 85 percent of the criminal sexual assault sentence and was given day-for-day credit for the aggravated criminal sexual abuse sentence.
Gonzalez was given credit for at least 457 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $150,000 bond.
