Elderly Woman Injured In Bronzeville Home Invasion
CHICAGO (STMW) -- An 88-year-old woman sustained injuries after struggling with a masked intruder who broke into her South Side Bronzeville neighborhood Friday night and put a knife to her throat and robbed her.
The woman was in her home at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue when she answered a knock at her door and a masked intruder pushed in, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The suspect put a knife to her throat and then they began struggling, Kubiak said.
The intruder hit her in the face, bruising her forehead and lip, Kubiak said. The woman's finger was also cut.
The intruder stole a bag of coins, Kubiak said.
The woman was treated and released from Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.
Police were looking into a person of interest.
