Elderly Woman Dies After Hit-And-Run Accident
CHICAGO (STMW) - A 76-year-old woman died after being struck by a van during a hit-and-run accident Saturday morning in the Albany Park neighborhood on the North Side.
A Dodge Caravan struck the woman while she was in the crosswalk in the 4500 block of Avenue at 7:15 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety. The van then fled the scene.
The woman was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Baety said.
Wyun Cho, 76, of the 400 block of North Spaulding Ave., was pronounced dead at 12:23 p.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan was later taken into custody, Baety said. Charges have not been filed.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
