Elderly Woman Critically Injured In Austin Fire
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman in her 70s was critically injured early Thursday from smoke inhalation in a fire in the West Side Austin neighborhood that also displaced three people.
Fire crews responded at 2:18 a.m. to a blaze at a two-and-a-half story building at 947 N. Massasoit Ave., according to Fire Media Affairs.
One person was taken in critical condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park with smoke inhalation, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Preliminary information indicated the person injured was a woman in her 70s, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. Three family members were also displaced following the fire, he said.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation early Thursday.
