Elderly Motorist Dead After Schaumburg Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) - A 92-year-old Schaumburg man died Friday afternoon, seven hours after a traffic crash in the northwest suburb.
The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Harvey J. Piaskowski, was driving a vehicle that struck another vehicle in a parking lot in the 700 block of Higgins Road at 10:18 a.m., according to Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl.
He then accidentally went through a guardrail and into a small ravine, according to Nebl.
He was alert and talking after the crash and taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village for observation.
Piaskowki, was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers at 5:35 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
No other injuries were reported, Nebl said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
