Elderly Man Struck, Killed On Edens Expressway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 73-year-old Chicago man was struck and killed by a vehicle late Sunday on the Edens Expressway near north suburban Skokie.
Miguel Tavares was struck and killed by a BMW about 11:10 p.m. on the Edens Expressway (I-94) near Lincoln Avenue, according to state police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Tavares, of the 2400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, was dead on the scene, according to the medical examiner's office.
The reason the man was walking on the expressway was not immediately clear, Trooper Ivan Bukaczyk said.
The driver of the BMW was not charged or cited in connection with the crash, Bukaczyk said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
All lanes on the expressway were reopened at 3:13 a.m. after the investigation.
