Elderly Man Missing From Northlake

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A senior citizen from west suburban Northlake has been reported missing, and police said his last known location was more than 200 miles away from home.

Earnest Moore, 87, drove to a doctor's appointment in Morton Grove on Monday, about 14 miles from his home in Northlake, but police said he became disoriented afterward, and called his son for directions, but couldn't describe any nearby landmarks.

When police were called in a day later, they discovered his cell phone had pinged off a tower in Door County, Wisconsin. Northlake Police Deputy Chief Jay Militello said Moore's phone is an older flip phone, so it doesn't have the GPS technology common on newer phones.

"He did not have a smart phone, so we are depending on the phone company to give us information on which cell phone towers that the phone was pinging off of, and that provides us with a general radius of his location," he said.

Police have described Moore as a 5-foot-7, 180-pound white man with brown eyes, glasses, and a hearing aid. When he went missing, Moore was driving a 2013 Buick Lacrosse with Illinois license plate 662762.
