Elderly Man Killed In Elgin Crash
ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) -- An elderly man was killed and a woman was injured in a crash in northwest suburban Elgin Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Just after noon, a 79-year-old man was heading north on Airlite Street near Country Knolls Lane when the Chevrolet Silverado he was driving sideswiped a Volkswagen Routan driven by a 39-year-old woman, police said. The truck kept going northbound until it hit a tree on the west side of the street.
The man was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The woman was also hospitalized with minor leg injuries.
The man's identity was being withheld pending notification of family, police said. The Kane County Coroner's office was scheduled to perform an autopsy Tuesday.
Elgin police are investigating.
