Edholm: Multiple Teams Will Fight For Jackson
(WSCR) Monday was a rough day for those NFL teams hoping to land a big-name free agent wide receiver.
The wide receiver market lost two key pieces when Dwayne Bowe received his franchise tag from the Chiefs and Stevie Johnson was locked up in a multi-year deal with Buffalo.
That leaves Vincent Jackson and Marques Colston as the big-name free agents who will hit the market next Tuesday when free agency begins. Still, one NFL expert thinks Jackson will be the most highly-sought out free agent on the market.
"It's going to be big," Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "There are a lot of teams that are going to be in on him. Everything I've heard suggests the Washington Redskins are going to be going big for a wide receiver. ... They want someone who is going to be able to stretch the field. No matter who they get at quarterback, they have to get that vertical threat. The Bears, obviously, you gotta mention them. The reports are that they're looking. Even the Bills, even though they signed Stevie Johnson, the word is that they are going to go for a receiver, too. We just don't know how big. I think you throw the Vikings in the mix. They lost Sidney Rice and we saw what kind of affect that had, in part.
