East Coast Snowstorm Delays Chicago Flights
UPDATED 01/27/11 10:43 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Another monstrous snowstorm on the East Coast has delayed hundreds of flights at O'Hare International Airport.
The Chicago Department of Aviation says more than 180 flights out of O'Hare and Midway were canceled Wednesday because of the snowstorm, and many planes that did take off were delayed.
On Thursday, the delays were less severe. At O'Hare as of 10:40 p.m., there were minor delays and 120 flights canceled for the day. At Midway, there were also minor delays, and fewer than two dozen flights had been canceled.
The city urges East Coast travelers to check the status of their flights before going to the airport.
And if you think Chicago has had a miserable winter this year, compared with our easterly friends, we've had it easy. CBS 2's Mary Kay Kleist says the latest snowstorm has dumped 15.3 inches of snow on New York City, 14.2 inches in Philadelphia and Newark, and 7.8 inches in Baltimore.
Public schools are canceled in Boston and New York.
