East Chicago Man Shot Dead In Gary
GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- A northwest Indiana man was shot to death Wednesday night at a Gary intersection.
Marlon Allen, 41, of East Chicago was found lying on the ground on Vermont Street at 42nd Avenue in Gary about 8 p.m., police said.
Residents in the area told police they heard gunfire, then saw the victim outside.
He was pronounced dead at 9:12 p.m., according to the Lake County Coroner's office.
Allen, who has an extensive criminal history, including a robbery charge from an April incident in Hammond, is the 42nd homicide victim of the year in Gary.
Last year, the city totaled 43 violent deaths by Dec. 31.
