Durbin Hosts Soldiers For State Of The Union
WASHINGTON (WBBM) -- Two Illinois Soldiers were on hand for the State of the Union Address Tuesday night.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Lisa Fielding reports, Sgt. Zachary McDonald of Wood Dale and Sgt. John Schumacher of Champaign were guests of U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.)

McDonald said when he received the call about the invitation, he was surprised and honored.
"It is an honor. It is nice; also, I feel that it shows that my professionalism is recognized," McDonald said.
McDonald was injured in combat in Afghanistan. He has been recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and plans to attend DePaul University, where he will major in International Studies and Spanish.
Durbin has invited injured Illinois soldiers to the State of the Union address for the last six years.
