DuPage County Sheriff's Office Stuck Borrowing Radios For NATO Summit
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- The DuPage County Sheriff's office is being criticized this morning for not preparing properly for the NATO Summit weekend.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Berner reports, it seems that DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba was supposed to sign an intergovernmental agreement some time ago to receive about $3.5 million in radio equipment.

But he did not, until recently, the Daily Herald reports.
The equipment was intended to allow the sheriff's police to communicate with other police departments in DuPage County, on a special system known as STARCOM21, the Daily Herald reports.
Now, because of the delay in signing the intergovernmental agreement with the Emergency Telephone System Board, the Daily Herald says the sheriff's office has had to borrow radios from other departments.
Some members of the DuPage County Board say the sheriff's office should never have needed to borrow radios at all, the Daily Herald reports.
But the sheriff's office insists everything is fine, and officers are prepared for the summit weekend.
