Dunn Says He'll 'Go Home' If He's Not Enjoying The Game Anymore
CHICAGO (CBS) -- White Sox DH Adam Dunn would quite literally take his bat and go home if he no longer derived pleasure from the game, according to a published report.
Dunn tells Yahoo Sports: "If I'm not having fun anymore, I'll go home. Flat out. I'll go home. I mean that. Swear to goodness. I'll. Go. Home."
He says he enjoys playing even though he "sucks" by his own admission, but if he ceases to enjoy the game, he will quit, Yahoo reported.
Dunn has only been batting .158 lately, according to Yahoo, and he has had a profoundly disappointing season with the White Sox despite high hopes. He calls the season "the most difficult thing of my life," Yahoo reported.
He is in the first of a four-year, $56 million contract with the White Sox.
But later in the interview with Yahoo, Dunn backtracked and said he cannot imagine making good on his threat to quit.
He said there was "zero chance" because "you can't get this competition anywhere else," Yahoo reported.
