Dump Truck Flips Over, Spills Debris On Ramp From Stevenson To Tri-State
INDIAN HEAD PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- A dump truck full of construction debris flipped over on a ramp between the Stevenson Expressway and the Tri-State Tollway early Monday, causing major backups.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, as of 6:50 a.m., the dump truck was lying on its side over the ramp between the outbound Stevenson (I-55) and the northbound Tri-State (I-294), and piles of construction debris were everywhere. The items spilled by the truck included boards with nails in them, pieces of broken glass, slabs of drywall, assorted construction materials, and even an old cooler.
Fire crews, an ambulance, Illinois State Police troopers and Illinois Toll Highway Authority crews were dispatched to the scene. The truck driver was not believed to be seriously injured.
Traffic was moving around the scene, but was slowed down significantly in the area.
Habermehl reports cleaning up the spill will be an all-morning affair.
