Drunken Woman Enters Wrong Home, Bites Cop Who Tries To Remove Her
SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) -- A reportedly intoxicated woman entered the wrong northwest suburban home early Sunday, then kicked and bit police officers who escorted her out after the homeowner called for help.
Around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Cook County Sheriff's deputies and the North Maine Fire Department were called to a home in the 8800 block of Robin Drive in unincorporated Maine Township.
The homeowner called 911 to report that a stranger was inside her home, a statement from the sheriff's office said.
Officers found 22-year-old Jenelle Barton inside the home, and led her outside, the statement said. Officers said she appeared to be "highly intoxicated."
On the way to a squad car, Barton kicked a police sergeant in the chest and bit another on the right hand, according to the statement. The bitten officer was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Barton was also taken to a hospital "due to her level of intoxication," the statement said. She was later released into police custody.
She is charged with criminal trespass to a residence and two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, all felonies, police said.
During a bond hearing Monday in Skokie, she was ordered held on $5,000, and is scheduled to next appear in court May 16.
