Drunk Hit-And-Run Driver Caught After Crashing Into Police Station
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist is in police custody early Monday after he crashed into a South Side police station and tried to drive away.
A 36-year-old man crashed into a concrete wall in front of the Gresham District police station at 7808 S. Halsted St. about 12:40 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
He fled the scene in the 1987 Chevrolet Caprice but was quickly arrested about three blocks away at the intersection of 79th and Peoria streets, Greer said. There was one passenger in the car, but no one was injured in the accident, and the crash did not do any major damage.
Andrew Walker, of the 100 block of W. 154th St. in Harvey, was cited for DUI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
