Drug Deal Goes Bad, Ends With Buyer Being Shot
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) - A man is being held on $1 million bond and police are looking for a second man in connection with a drug deal that went bad at Fountain Square and resulted in a victim being shot.
Jeremy Howard, 21, of the 2000 block of West Eagle Ridge Drive in Waukegan, is being held on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery and armed robbery, Waukegan police Cmdr. Gabriel Guzman said.
A warrant has been issued for Gary Ladehoff, 18, of the 2700 block of 20th Street in Zion. Police arrested Howard Thursday night.
Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect to call (847) 599-2500 or Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. June 10 when the victim was trying to buy marijuana from the two suspects. He allegedly was robbed and shot instead. The bullet passed through his side.
Police said he is recovering at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. The victim drove himself to a nearby restaurant to call for an ambulance, police said.
