Driver Seriously Hurt In Hit-And-Run
BRADLEY, Ill. (STMW) - A man is in custody for a hit-and-run crash that left another motorist seriously injured Monday in Kankakee County.
William Kibbons, 39, of Bonfield, Ill., was charged with DUI, according to Illinois State Police. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Kibbons is accused of driving a westbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup that swerved into the eastbound lane of Route 17 and collided with a Pontiac at 10:17 p.m. Monday at CR 3200 West in Kankakee County, an ISP release said. The Pontiac then collided with an eastbound Chevrolet pickup that came to rest in a ditch.
Police said Kibbons left the scene, but was later found and arrested. He was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center for processing.
The 19-year-old driver of the Pontiac, from Bradley, was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with serious injuries, according to ISP.
