Driver Crashes Into Mount Greenwood Auto Repair Shop
UPDATED 11/04/11 11:26 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man lost control of his car and crashed into an auto repair shop in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood early Friday.
The 27-year-old driver was left in critical condition.
He crashed into Mt. Greenwood Auto Repair, 10319 S. Kedzie Ave., around 1:20 a.m. Friday. The building sustained severe damage.
He was the sole occupant of a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was southbound on Kedzie when, at 103rd Street, he lost control and crashed into an auto repair shop at 10319 S. Kedzie, according to a Morgan Park District police officer.
Mt. Greenwood Auto Repair recently reopened, according to a staffer at Sinclair's Auto Clinic, which is across the street.
The Sinclair's worker said the car, which crashed all the way through a front office of the business, was being followed by police.
Neither Chicago Police nor police from nearby Evergreen Park could confirm that information.
The driver was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
No one else was in the car and the crash is still under investigation, Gaines said. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
