Driver Cited For Striking 2 Students Near Lane Tech H.S.
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist struck two high school students as they left Lane Tech High School on the North Side Monday night. One of the two girls hurt was hospitalized in critical condition.
The girls, both 15, were leaving from a class project at Lane Tech High School when a vehicle hit them in the nearby 3500 block of North Western Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
Paramedics took both girls to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical center, police said. One of the girls was critically hurt, while the other was in "stable" condition.
Both girls attend Whitney Young High School, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and received citations for driving over the median strip and not taking due care to avoid striking a pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
