Dozens Of Chicago Babies Share Birthday With New British Prince
CHICAGO (CBS) -- On the day that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to a boy, babies were being born all over -- including at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where 37 babies were born yesterday.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports Nia Aneesa Wright was born yesterday afternoon, but before she had even been born, her mother, Zaheera Abdul-Wright, and her father, Tony Wright, had been referring to her as Princess Nia.
Zaheera said Nia's "nursery is already set up with a chandelier that is in the form of a crown."
Babies Share Royal Birthday
When it was pointed out that it appears their princess was born on the same day as Britain's newest prince, it took a second for it to register with Zaheera that Kate Middleton had delivered her baby too. She laughed.
It also was a happy coincidence for Katya Fay that her daughter was born on the same day as the new prince in England, and royalty partially came into play in naming her baby.
Katya said she and her husband, Eric, decided on the name Victoria, a royal name from Katya's native country, Russia. It also ties in with Katya's father's name, Victor.
Another new mom at Northwestern, Casey Shabala, just picked a name she liked when naming her new son, Knox Jason Shabala. Jason is the middle name of the baby's father, Adam Shabala.
Casey noted she and Kate Middleton have some similarities: being first-time moms and having given birth on the same day to boys that weigh about the same.
She said she's "sure they're both cranky," and both eat a lot, since "they're big boys."
Casey believes Kate Middleton and Prince William will try to raise their son in as normal an environment as possible.
