Downtown Workers Choose Hotels Over Commute
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Hundreds of locals are flocking to downtown hotels instead of braving the elements on the road.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Lisa Fielding reports, Joe Lemon, the doorman at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 E. Wacker Dr., says it was a rough night outside.

"The wind is the main problem," he said.
But it was a busy night inside the hotel.
"Most people are taking advantage; they don't want to dig their cars out," Lemon said.
He said the majority of guests are downtown workers who didn't want to drive home.
"All I had tonight were CTA workers, who said they weren't going to go home all the way to the suburbs and come back in," Lemon said.
Tinecia Rush said she made the right decision by staying the night.
"It would be impossible to make it back home in this weather," she said. "I've got time to relax versus worrying about getting up in the morning."
Hyatt says it has booked more than 200 rooms in the last two days, for commuters who planned for the weather, and didn't want to take the chance on the roads.
Hyatt offered a $79 special that included free parking.
