Downtown Taxi Crash Leaves 4 Hurt
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Four people were hurt when an SUV and a taxi collided downtown early Wednesday.
A Porsche SUV was northbound in the 400 block of South Michigan Avenue about 2:30 a.m. when the driver failed to stop at a red light and struck a taxi, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
The driver of the Porsche, a 28-year-old man, and the taxi driver were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Estrada said. The two passengers in the taxi, a 32-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
All four suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Estrada said. Fire Media Affairs initially said all four were in serious-to-critical condition.
The driver of the Porsche was ticketed for disobeying a red light, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and operating an uninsured vehicle, Estrada said.
