Downstate Mitsubishi Workers Won't Go Idle This Year
NORMAL, Ill. (WBBM/CBS) -- Workers at the Mitsubishi plant in downstate Normal have just learned some good news.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Felicia Middlebrooks reports, normally in Normal, Ill., every summer for a couple of weeks, the Mitsubishi plant shuts down for maintenance.

But this year, that will not be happening. The company got a new order for a fleet of rental vehicles.
Mitsubishi Motors North America tells The Bloomington Pantagraph that workers will be building nearly 1,200 Endeavors, the plant's midsized crossover sport-utility vehicle.
Spokesman Dan Irvin says the shutdown is normally used for maintenance and model changeovers. But he says the only way to get the SUV order done is to eliminate the shutdown.
