The Save-A-Pet no kill shelter in suburban Grayslake will remain open well into next year after the community responded financially.
The board president says, earlier this year, the facility had faced a real threat of shutting down because of declining funds. But a number of fundraisers, including the current Christmas challenge, has allowed the shelter to keep going.
Part of the Christmas challenge includes a match of $10,000 from an anonymous donor if the money is collected by December 24th.
