Domino's Pizza workers in suburban Chicago help family escape from fire
OAK LAWN, Ill. (CBS) -- Two Oak Lawn Domino's Pizza workers are being hailed as heroes for helping a family escape a fire that tore through their home.
Naser Khanfar and Sara Jones were closing up shop at the Domino's at 9022 S. Cicero Ave. in the southwest suburb early Monday morning, when they noticed flames at a mobile home across the street.
"After we closed the store, we were sitting outside, talk, before we're leaving," said Khanfar. "When I talked with her, I see a fire in the trailer. I said, 'Sara, there's fire here."
The pair rushed to help break a window, allowing a father and his two young sons to make it to safety.
"And then I turned around there actually was—the trailer, the whole thing was on fire," said Jones. "So we ran across the street, and he saw the dad and his son trying to break the window, so then he pretty much broke it instantly."
It took firefighters half an hour to knock down the flames. Late Friday, investigators were still working to determine what sparked the fire.
