Dog Shot Dead After Attacking Police Officer, Woman In Little Village
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago police officer shot and killed a dog in the Little Village neighborhood after it attacked an elderly woman and another officer Tuesday night.
About 8:45 p.m., the 72-year-old woman went into the backyard of her building in the 2700 block of South Whipple when her first-floor neighbor's dog attacked her, police said.
When police arrived, the dog attacked an officer and another officer fatally shot the animal, police said.
The woman suffered multiple bites and was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital, where her condition stabilized, police said.
The officer was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn with injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening.
The dog's owner, a 31-year-old man who wasn't home at the time of the attack, was ticketed for not having a city dog license.
