Dog Found In Elgin Reunited With Denver Family
(CBS) – Kelly Booker may be the happiest dog owner right now.
His dog, Lilly, disappeared from Denver nearly four years ago. Then, a couple of weeks ago, the dog was found nearly 1,000 miles away in Elgin.
Tonight, she is finally home and in the arms of her owner. CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports.
The six-year-old Shih Tzu vanished from her Denver home on the 4th of July, 3 ½ years ago
"If you know someone is gone out of your life, like gone to another world, and all of a sudden they are back, it's mind-boggling. I can't even really explain it the anticipation is growing out of control," Booker said before the reunion in Colorado.
Lilly was found in bad shape and dirty, wandering on the street by Elgin Police. She was taken to a no-kill shelter, Almost Home Foundation, in Schaumburg. A microchip check revealed Lilly's identity – and her real home.
Pet relocation specialist Clay Dabbert heard about Lilly's plight and covered all of the dog's airline expenses, to reunite her with Booker.
It's a mystery as to how Lilly got to Elgin in the first place.
