Dog Attack In Logan Square Leaves 3 Injured, Including CPD Officer
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Three people were injured, including a Chicago police officer, in a dog attack in Logan Square on Thursday.
The dog got loose from its owner and bit a 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman. Officers arrived on scene and one was bitten in the arm.
The officers first tazed the dog and then a Chicago police sergeant was forced to fatally shoot the animal.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, the officer was taken to West Suburban Medical Center and two other victims were transported to Norwegian American Hospital.
Chicago police said the incident took place in the 2400 block of North Lawndale Avenue around 11:45 a.m. Police said Animal Care and Control was called to the scene.
According to dispatch reports, "police had to put down the dog."
All of the victims suffered arm bites and their conditions have been stabilized.
Police cannot confirm if any charges are expected against the dog's owner.
