Does McCamey Have A Future In The NBA?
Demetri McCamey's Illinois career came to an end with a 73-59 loss to top seeded Kansas on Sunday. Over his four years at Illinois, McCamey put up big numbers and at times looked like an elite player.
But there were also times where he disappeared from games, one of the things scouts are sure to take notice of when evaluating him.
"At the end of the shot clock, he can't make that play, he can't make that big shot, get into the lane, find his teammates," Tim Doyle of the Big Ten Network, said on the Danny Mac Show. "Here's a guy that came back to school because scouts wanted to see him win, he didn't get that done. I'd be shocked if he plays at the next level. I think he's a little too slow on footwork, I don't know if he can defend on the perimeter, and his body language. Does his body language do it for you? Does he look like he's playing with that sense of urgency every time he steps on the floor?"
Over the 139 games of McCamey's career, he scored 1,718 points and added 733 assists, while leading the Illini to an 81-58 overall record.
