Do White Sox Need A Change In Culture?
CHICAGO (WSCR) It's no secret that at 10-19, the Chicago White Sox have underperformed so far this season. And as White Sox fans look for answers as to why, and solutions to fix the team, manager Ozzie Guillen's name often comes up.
"In a normal situation, different owner, he would have been fired, probably, a long time ago," Ken Rosenthal, of FOX Sports, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "But with [Jerry] Reinsdorf I don't know if you can really say that. And remember, they just extended him the one year, so he's signed through next year.

"And while I don't know if money would be an issue here, I don't think that would stop the White Sox from doing this, I feel that if he was going to be fired, it would have been last year. A lot more things happened last year, in terms of this kind of volatility and reasons to be fired. Now this is performance, and the performance of the team. But if Reinsdorf didn't fire him last year, I have a hard time believing he's going to fire him now. I could be wrong, and who knows?"
While things on the North Side aren't remarkably better this year, their 2010 season saw significant improvement once Lou Piniella was replaced with Mike Quade. And there are some who feel a similar change in culture could benefit the White Sox.
"There are executives with other clubs who say this team will never be right until they have a change at the top, because Ozzie is an emotional roller coaster," Rosenthal said. "That's certainly a valid opinion, and it's an opinion that's held by many in the game."
