Dillard Campaigning With Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar
(CBS) -- Kirk Dillard, the man the polls say is a surging second in the Republican race for governor, is campaigning with his former boss Sunday and Monday.
"Illinois is broken. Illinois is not working. And I'm tested and I'm prepared. And I am the change that we need."
Dillard Campaigning With Former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar
State Senator Kirk Dillard was chief of staff for Jim Edgar when Edgar was governor of Illinois in the '90s.
Edgar is campaigning with Dillard.
At their first stop, we asked Edgar why he thinks Bruce Rauner seems to have resonated so much in the polls - because in the past, other candidates for governor, like Ron Gidwitz, have spent a lot of their own money on their campaigns too, only to lose the primary.
"It's one word. It's money. Nobody has spent as much as he's spent in any campaign - when the other candidates have had as little as they've had."
Edgar is scheduled to campaign with Dillard through Monday at nine stops around the state.
