Despite 2 Home Losses, No Bye Week Blues For Bears
CHICAGO (CBS) - Despite two straight home losses, there are no bye week blues at Halas Hall. The Bears believe it's the best time for them to heal up, refocus and fix some problems. CBS 2's Megan Mawicke reports.
"That's what the bye week is for. Not just physically get healthy, but mentally get away and relax and not think about things," said Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.
"I think we are closer than people think. We have a great opportunity to be successful but the consistency factor is our biggest obstacle right now," said Bears tight end Greg Olsen.
They have plenty of glaring weaknesses to work on in their offense. Once again the Bears promised they will have a more balanced attack and try to get their running backs more involved.
"We need to run the ball more and we need to get those guys included more through the run," said Bears head coach Lovie Smith. "I like our screen game. We need to get the ball into our playmakers' hands and those guys (Forte and Taylor) are two of them."
"I am real fresh. I feel fresher than I have been in a long time, I will just wait until the time comes and go and play every down the best I can," said Bears running back Chester Taylor.
The most interesting thing we heard from the Bears today: they are exploring using Matt Forte and Chester Taylor in the backfield at the same time. They will experiment with the idea during the bye week and see how it goes.
Maybe we will see a different Bears offense when they return to action against the Bills.
