Derrick Rose Doubles Down On Calling Knicks A 'Super-Team' But Is Now Wary Of Using That Term In The United States
(CBS) Knicks point guard Derrick Rose has doubled down on calling his new squad a "super-team."
While speaking to fans on a trip to Korea, Rose again maintained the Knicks are a "super-team" -- a term he first used in July and one that others had only used to describe the Warriors after their high-profile signing of Kevin Durant.
"I still believe that," Rose said of the Knicks being a super-team. "Like I said with that 'super-team' term, you got to be very careful, I guess if you're in the United States.
"I feel like if you're on any team in the NBA -- you don't have to be in the NBA, you can be at the college level, in high school -- you should believe in yourself and have the confidence in yourself that you're playing on a 'super-team' anywhere. I have a lot of confidence and I'm not taking that back."
Rose and former Bulls big man Joakim Noah both joined the Knicks in the offseason, forming a core around star forward Carmelo Anthony and young, budding big man Kristaps Porzingis. New York also signed shooting guard Courtney Lee and point guard Brandon Jennings to back up Rose.
The Knicks went 32-50 last season.
