Deputies On Rescue: We Would Do It Again
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A pair of sheriff's deputies say it was uncomfortable inside a burning building but they'd go back again to save residents who were trapped.
WBBM Newsradio 780's John Cody reports.
Deputy Edward Flory said it was so smoky inside the apartment at 115 E. 111th Street on Tuesday that he had to feel his way along the hallways.
"I couldn't even see through the light on my flashlight," he said.
Deputy David Soto was moving slowly on Wednesday after extracting four people from the burning two flat.
"I was trying to kick open one of the doors ... we didn't know if people were inside passed out ... and something popped in my neck," he said.
Deputies Flory and Soto were on their way to serve a warrant when they spotted smoke and flames. They alerted the residents and escorted four to safety.
