DePaul Signs McKinney To Letter Of Intent
DePaul has signed Charles McKinney to a national letter of intent, the team announced on Wednesday. McKinney is a Chicagoland native who spent three seasons playing for Maine East before spending last season at Quality Education Academy in North Carolina.
"We're really pleased to add Charles to the fold," head coach Oliver Purnell said in a statement. "He is the kind of tough athlete from a winning program that we need to build with. He's anxious to be here and we're anxious to have him."
The 6-4 guard joins a Top 25 recruiting class for the Blue Demons that also includes local players Jamee Crockett and Macari Brooks, along with out-of-state recruits Shane Larkin (Orlando) and Derrell Robertson (Mississippi).
McKinney averaged 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.2 steals per game in his senior year at Quality Education Academy. He helped lead the Pharoahs to a 26-4 record and the NCSAA Division I championship for the third straight year.
CBSSports.com affiliated MaxPreps.com ranks DePaul's incoming class at No. 25 in the nation and seventh among the Big East's 16 programs.
