DePaul Beats Milwaukee 84-50
CHICAGO (AP) -- Donnavan Kirk tied a career high with 14 points and Jamee Crockett added 13 points and six rebounds to lead DePaul to an 84-50 rout of Milwaukee on Sunday night.
DePaul (6-3) used an early 14-0 run to jump out to a 21-8 lead. Moses Morgan made two 3-pointers and made a nice pass to Cleveland Melvin for an alley-oop dunk during the span for the Blue Demons.
Brandon Young scored 13 points and Melvin finished with 11 points and three blocks in a game where DePaul led by as many as 41. The Panthers beat the Blue Demons last season.
DePaul held Milwaukee's leading scorer Jordan Aaron to six points on 2-for-11 shooting. Paris Gulley led Milwaukee (3-7) with 14 points.
The Blue Demons held Milwaukee to 25.8 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers.
DePaul has won four in a row.
Frustration set in for Milwaukee when J.J. Panoske was called for a technical for slamming the ball against the floor after he was called for a foul. Melvin extended DePaul's lead to 28-11 on a pair of free throws. The Blue Demons led 45-27 at the half.
Freshman Durrell McDonald had a layup and Worrel Clahar found Kirk for a layup to put DePaul up 72-37 with 8:17 left. Clahar finished with 10 assists.
Gulley had 12 points in the first half while Crockett and Melvin each scored nine points before the break. DePaul held Milwaukee to 29 percent shooting in the half.
