Dent Inducted Into NFL Hall Of Fame
The Chicago Bears' Richard Dent has been enshrined into the NFL Hall of Fame.
Dent spent 12 of his 15 NFL seasons playing for the Chicago Bears, and recorded 137.5 sacks, 671 tackles and forced 37 fumbles throughout his career. He was also the Super Bowl MVP in 1985.
Dent was drafted in the eighth round by the Bears, with 203rd overall pick in the 1983.
It was a long process for Dent to get inducted. He was announced as a finalist back in 2005 and came close to being in the induction classes that followed. But Dent's wait has came to an end as the announcement became official during an NFL Network annoucnement on Saturday night.
Joining Dent in the 2011 class is Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Shannon Sharpe, Ed Sabol, Les Richter and Chris Hanburger.
Sanders, the outstanding cornerback/kick returner and sometime wide receiver known as "Prime Time" with five teams, is a two-time Super Bowl winner and Defensive Player of the Year in 1994.
Faulk won a Super Bowl with the 1999 Rams, was the 1994 Offensive Rookie of the Year, 2000 NFL MVP and a three-time Offensive Player of the Year (1999-2001).
Sharpe held league records for a tight end in receptions, yards and touchdowns when he retired in 2001.
