Dense fog advisory issued through Monday morning for Chicago area
CHICAGO (CBS) — A dense fog advisory is in effect for most of the Chicago area through Monday morning, as poor visibility continues across most of the suburbs.
The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory through 9 a.m. Monday for McHenry, DuPage, Will, DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle, Kendall, Lee, Ogle, Booone, Winnebago counties, as well as northern Cook County.
Visibility could be as low as 1/4 mile or less in some areas, making for dangerous driving conditions. Drivers should use low-beam headlights when traveling in foggy conditions.
Scattered rain showers are possible late Sunday night with drizzle and fog lingering into Monday morning.
A cold front will cross the Chicago area around 1 p.m. Monday, shifting winds to become westerly. This wind flow will usher in a colder, drier air mass, with falling temperatures throughout the afternoon.
Highs will top out Monday in the lower 50s. By the end of the week, temperatures will come crashing down, with highs only in the 30s. Another chance of snow and rain returns on Wednesday.
