Report: Deng Unwilling To Sign Extension, Wants To Test Open Market
(CBS) Former Bulls forward and current Cleveland Cavalier Luol Deng isn't likely to be moved prior to Thursday afternoon's trade deadline because he's unwilling to commit to a long-term extension, Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday. Deng is set to become a free agent this summer.
"The Cavaliers have had conversations with several teams, including Dallas, Detroit and Indiana about Deng, league sources told Yahoo Sports," wrote Adrian Wojnarowski. "Nevertheless, there's no traction on a deal and no team seems inclined to give up valuable assets for a player who could walk away in free agency ...Deng is determined to investigate free agency in July before making a decision to stay with Cleveland, sources said."
The Bulls traded Deng in early January for Andrew Bynum's contract and draft picks.
