Deng 'Disappointed' About All-Star Snub
When Derrick Rose was named a starter in the NBA's All-Star game he was hoping some of his Chicago Bulls' teammates could make the trip with him.
But Rose will be flying solo at the All-Star game in Los Angeles after Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer weren't named to the game's reserves by the league's coaches.
"I'm surprised," Deng told K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. "As a team, I feel like we went through a lot with injuries. We had Carlos [Boozer] and Joakim [Noah] missing. And I feel like other teams had injuries and some of those guys that were hurt made it."
Deng made reference to the fact that players like Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett and Chris Bosh all missed time due to injures and were all named as reserves.
To make matter worse for Deng and Boozer, the Bulls have an identical record as the Miami Heat, who sent three players to the All-Star game.
"I'm disappointed," Deng told Johnson. "To go there and represent the team would've been great. It's weird to me we only have one. All I can do is put it past me. I really think I'm a step ahead of where I was last year. So my main thing is to keep going forward. There's nothing I can do about it."
Deng is quietly having a great season, the quiet part is a result of how stellar Rose has been. But Deng is still averaging 17.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season.
