Dempster Named Cubs' Opening Day Starter

Ryan Dempster has been named the Chicago Cubs' opening day starter. It will be the first time since 2004 that Carlos Zambrano will not take the mound on opening day.

According to Paul Sullivan, of the Chicago Tribune, Cubs' manager Mike Quade has confirmed that Dempster will be followed by Zambrano and newly acquired Matt Garza in the Cubs' rotation.

Last season, Dempster was 15-12 with a 3.85 ERA and a 1/32 WHIP in 215.1 innings pitched.
