Normal Blue Line Service Resuming After Earlier Derailment
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Blue Line was disrupted for more than two hours Monday afternoon, after a truck tire landed on the CTA tracks in the center of the Eisenhower Expressway.
The derailment happened near the Illinois Medical District stop shortly before noon. CTA officials said it appeared a tire flew off a truck and landed on the tracks, causing a Blue Line train to derail.
Service was suspended between UIC Halsted and Pulaski after the incident, but resumed shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The CTA said residual delays were expected while service returns to normal.
