Deerfield Teachers Vote To Authorize Strike
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A north suburban school district is facing a possible teacher strike.
Teachers in District 109 in Deerfield voted 261 to 2 to authorize a strike after negotiations, which have been ongoing for over a year, hit an impasse, the Lake County News Sun reports.
Union President Dennis Jensen said the issues center on salaries, benefits, special education delivery and teacher evaluations among other things.
Jensen said their goal is not a strike but to reach a fair settlement.
School district officials were not available for comment.
