Deer Takes A Stroll Through Ogilvie Train Station
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A deer walked up the tracks at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in downtown Chicago on Sunday and was safely corralled by animal welfare officials in between two sets of doors.
Witness Jackie Shirreffs said that commuters spotted the deer on the tracks at Ogilvie at about 10 a.m. on Sunday as a Metra train was pulling into the station.
When she returned to the station around noon, she said that Metra officials and animal welfare workers had lured the deer into an entryway, between two sets of doors, by placing a trail of popcorn.
All trains were stopped about 45 minutes while the deer was wandering around the tracks.
Chicago Animal Care and Control officials said the deer, a 1-year-old doe, was taken to their facility on Western Avenue. As of Sunday afternoon, no decisions had been made about what would be done with the deer later.
